MOSCOW, January 24. / TASS /. Supporting small businesses will be one of the top priorities of the Russian government this year, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said at the business success national award ceremony in Moscow.
“This year we are committed to the active state support of small business in the country – this is a priority at the state level. Together with the regional authorities a road map will be implemented to support SMEs. Now our country’s small business takes one quarter, we want to increase its share to 50%, “said Shuvalov.
According to him, in order to stimulate the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia, it is necessary to motivate large state-owned companies to increase the number of preferential purchases for representatives of small companies. “According to the data of the SME corporation, only in 2016 companies with state participation were purchased from small and medium-sized businesses in the amount of 1.5 trillion rubles. We need to continue to stimulate them to increase the number of purchases and provide a certain piece of the market to owners of small enterprises,” said First Deputy Prime Minister.
“Business Success” is a joint project of the “Pillars of Russia”, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Public Chamber. The aim of the award is to popularize small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and replicate successful experience in improving the local business climate. Over the six years of the project’s existence, 53 regional, district and all-Russian forums have been held in support of it, in which about 47 thousand entrepreneurs and more than three thousand representatives of the authorities took part. Over 100 thousand people became viewers of online broadcasts from the Business Success events.
Small business is capable of more
At the presentation of the prizes, the head of Russia’s Support, Alexander Kalinin, noted a number of steps taken for the development of small business.
“Thanks to the president’s support, large-scale state programs to support small businesses have appeared – these are preferential tenders, loans at a reduced rate, and educational programs that help to open a business from scratch. Today, small and micro-businesses are capable of more, there is an active interest in exporting their products from owners of small companies. A few years ago it was hard to believe, “said Kalinin.
